Dr. Schwaiger was highly recommended to me by Dr. Stephen Messer, a homeopathic physician, who was aware of the severe arm/should pain and inflammation that I had been experiencing for months due to being treated, incorrectly, by another doctor. My range of motion was nonexistent. I could not move my shoulder at all, nor could I extend my arm more than two inches from my side. I literally had no use of the extremity. Normal activities like typing at my computer or steering a grocery cart were impossible. Exercise was out of the question, as was a good night's sleep; and, I wore my arm in a sling most of the time because it hurt too much to allow it to dangle. From the moment I met Dr. Schwaiger, I knew he was the right doctor for me. He was kind, caring, empathetic, down-to-earth, had a great sense of humor, and exuded confidence and competence without being arrogant. At the time, I desperately needed all of these components in a doctor. I was a mess! Once he completed a thorough history and calmed my fears about examining the affected area, he prescribed a pain remedy, as well as a sleep aid. (That night, I had the first good night of sleep I'd had in many months.) He then began to discuss his thoughts about the best strategy to use for healing my badly damaged arm/shoulder, which included prolotherapy, ultrasound, and acupuncture. Several things amazed me about that discussion. First was the fact that he was actually discussing his ideas with me, as opposed to telling me that "this is the way it will be". He stated that he wanted to ensure I was comfortable with his ideas, and he encouraged my feedback. These doctor-patient discussions continued throughout my treatment, which made the course of action so much more interesting and rewarding. Next, he was so unassuming. In my experience, this is certainly not typical behavior for a "doctor". He explained that if his treatment wasn't working after a specific amount of time, it was his fault and he would refer me to someone who could do a better job than he. As you can imagine, I was astounded! Finally, he and I discussed and agreed that Dr. Messer should be part of this healing process, as he had been my doctor for years, and he would be able to prescribe the correct homeopathic remedies to enhance the healing process and complement the various treatments. They worked closely together to ensure a speedy, painless recovery. It was something to behold! I am now "whole" again. I can now swim, do yoga, and I’m steering that cart around the grocery store like a madwoman!!! I continue to see Dr. Schwaiger for Prolotherapy or acupuncture on other areas of my body. The best part of all of this is - I feel he is a dear friend. I don’t know what I would've done without him! He's a great person, a super doctor, and a wonderful friend.
