Dr. Schwaiger graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine (SCNM). He holds a undergraduate degree in Behavioral Sciences and a Masters' degree in Health Services Management and has over 29 years health related experience.
His practice focuses on integrative family medicine in treating both acute and chronic conditions. He treats individuals with anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, headaches, gastrointestinal disorders, and hormone problems. In addition, he utilizes an integrative approach to cancer treatment.
He has had extensive training and clinical experience in Prolotherapy used in the treatment of pain. He completed a two year residency at SCNM in Family Medicine. He was Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Chair of the Department of General Medicine at SCNM until December 2011. In January 2012 he moved to Walnut Creek, CA.
Among many treatment modalities, he uses nutrition and supplementation, botanical medicine, medication, hormonal intervention, homeopathy, and lifestyle modification.
He received certification in HeartMath® interventions, used to help improve emotional well being by changing self attitudes and behaviors. Unlike conventional biofeedback, this research-based system incorporates emotional refocusing and emotional restructuring techniques that are facilitated by a heart-rhythm-coherence feedback technology named emWave®.
